A few notes on using the site, then keyword lists.
No commercial use please. Commercial use is anything that involves you or your organization making money: sales, building commercial image, AdSense on your site, non-profit fund-raising, etc. (But if you represent a non-profit, contact me.)
Some galleries, mostly ones from around the house, don't show the logo and have a note indicating no downloads. If you would like photos from one of these, please contact me.
Image updates. As of December 2018, I am rotating in updates to saturation (almost always more), tone (often reduced contrast, but occaisionally the opposite), white balance (varies), and sharpness (only when there's a problem). I have a new and better calibrated monitor. What I posted with the older, less-well-set-up one sometimes looks off. This is also an opportunity re-think some earlier editing choices. Very occasionally I've modified image choice or cropping.
Video playback. It's imperfect. SmugMug "native" videos -- the ones in-line in the galleries -- can start out at low resolution and then improve after a few seconds. The Vimeo versions at the end of some galleries (or in a separate folder in one case) do a bit better. These are embedded from my Vimeo site and use their player.
Search. The search tool is in the header (desktop) or menu (mobile).
Basic Keyword Links
Plant Genera Keywords (linked to the appropriate family)
The Plant Families Folder collects botanical pictures from the various hiking and touring galleries. They are organized by family, the next major taxonomic division above genus. The list below gives the genera represented, with links to the appropriate family. So, for example, Abies links to the family gallery for Pinaceae. Abies are the fir trees. Pinaceae is the pine family, including (in California) fir, spruce, pine, hemlock, and Douglas fir.
