Sunday, August 12. We drove to the Fallen Leaf Lake Campground. First stop: the beach.
Lots of people hanging out there.
A few waterfowl too.
After dinner, we drove north on 89 to Inspiration Point. Emerald Bay and the whole of Lake Tahoe.
Though getting dark, we drove to the Vikingsholm lot and had this great view.
We walked down to Vikingsholm in the fading light. This is a flash shot.
Monday, August 13. To set up the shuttle I parked the car at the Tallac Trailhead and walked the mile back to highway 89.
There, Alex and I picked up the Tahoe Trolley.
The trolley drove north on highway 89. More great views.
Then in on the Meeks Bay Trail.
Abies concolor. After about 1-1/2 miles, the trail begins to climb through a dark forest of white firs.
Pinus jeffreyi. Sometimes it popped out into more open areas of Jeffrey pines.
Then back into the firs.
Lake Genevieve. No more pictures this afternoon. We had a dandy dose of rain and thunder.
We camped at Stony Ridge Lake. Walking around after dinner.
Two large stones in Stony Ridge Lake.
A stony hillside by Stony Ridge Lake.
Spiraea splendens. Rose meadowsweet.
