Phrymaceae
Lopseed family. Eudicots. At one time, these members of Phymaceae were in Scrophulariaceae (the figwort family). Prior to Revision 6 of the Jepson Manual (September 2018), the members of the genera Diplacus and Erythranthe here were in the genus Mimulus.

Diplacus douglasii (Purple mouse ears, brownies). Not that rare, but I've only seen these once before. About 1/2 inch across but worth a close look.
