This was a revisit to an area I explored in 2014. Then, the first summer after the fire, I found a burned out landscape but several unusual wildflowers. Now it's much more conventional. The fire scars are still very much there, and they will be slow to heal since parts of this area were hit very hard. None-the-less, the fast-responding shrubs and grasses are filling in.

The bindweed (and clover and locoweed) is going strong.
Where California delphiniums grew two years ago, it's mainly grass (holding a few composities, blue dicks, and clarkias) and shrubs like this toyon filling in. That's not to say there are no flowers ...
Calochortus venustus (butterfly mariposa lily). I've seen many more of these on Mt. Diablo since the fire, so not all is back to "conventional".
Calochortus pulchellus (Mount Diablo fairy lantern). Not unusual, but these too have been doing well post-fire.
Collinsia heterophylla (Chinese houses). As one would expect here in late April.
