Pellaea mucronata (bird's-foot fern) at the right. For scale, this whole thing is maybe 7 or 8" high. At left, Selaginella bigelovii (Bigelow's spike moss). These lycophytes in the family Selaginellaceae. Leucophytes are vascular plants (thus more complex than non-vascular "regular" mosses), but are simpler than ferns. This was a botanically more interesting spot than I realized when I took the picture.
