A different take on the familiar fire zone route. In at Oak Knoll, up the Summit Trail to Devil's Elbow and the lower summit parking lot, around the mountain on the Mary Bowerman Trail, then up to the Summit. Rather than continue on the slippery route to Prospector's Gap, though, I just headed down on the road -- which was closed at Juniper due to the snow --- and cut back to the Summit Trail where convenient. Fire recovery? In the snow, nothing looks amiss, although the views are more open now than they would have been before the fire. Snow? About 2" above 2700' or so, less lower but some as low as 2000'. Not a lot, but more than I saw in 2017.

No snow on the rock face, but there was some on the shallower slope just above. (The oldest collection record for this species dates to May 15, 1862, by William Brewer, taken here on Mt. Diablo.)
