SF Bay Area - Jim Ringland

Outdoor travels here: almost all day hiking

I like to explore & understand
I love flowers
I find peace in the wilds

Every week when I'm home, I take at least one long hiking trip in the San Francisco Bay Area parklands. Alameda, Contra Costa, and Marin counties -- home for most of my local hiking -- provide many options within a hour's drive. I don't shoot every trip, but when I do, I try capture the flora and the seasonal landscape. This is also my workshop for photography: keeping in practice, exploring technique, learning new equipment, etc.

The Mt. Diablo - Morgan Fire Recovery folder is different from the others. It collects galleries from the yearly folders to provide a picture of how nature has responded to that 3000+ acre fire on the northeast flank of Mt. Diablo. The Morgan Fire began on September 8, 2013, was essentially stopped in two days, and was contained in a week.
