9/2/20 - Briones Reservoir NE
September 2, 2020. SF Bay Area. Bay Area 2020. A simple out-and-back along the Oursan Trail, starting from the Bear Valley Trailhead at the east side of the reservoir. Today's hike overlapped just a bit with my May 26 hike at the farthest points in. Heavy marine layer today: today's thin light is mostly from water haze, not smoke haze, although the latter is not 100% gone yet.

View from my lunch spot. Same place I had lunch on May 26, then with bright blue skies.
I saw lots of egrets today -- all like this, great egrets -- but few stayed put long enough for me to get off a shot.
Epilobium brachycarpum (autumn willowherb). The flower is only about 1/4" across: pretty up close but not much impact from a distance.
