Mt Diablo: Falls Trail and Back Cyn - May 25 2019
2019. SF Bay Area. Bay Area 2019. It's Memorial Day weekend and the annual grasses are brown, but May rains have kept the flowers going. Nothing all that exotic here: just lots late spring wildflowers. Indeed, last year I was in this same general area on almost the same day and saw a similar show (with more rarities that day since I was with a CNPS group). Today's route: in at the end of Regency Drive, then a complex loop via the Donner Canyon Trail, Bruce Lee Spring Trail, Wasserman Trail, Cardinet Oaks Road, Falls Trail, Middle Trail, Meridian Ridge Road, Meridian Point Trail, and the Back Creek Trail.

Several iNaturalist enteries have cited this plant but the only other Mt. Diablo record is a general "check list" one. I'd love to see a second R. speciosum on the mountain.
