Ribes speciosum (fuchsia-flowered gooseberry) near the Donner Cabin. This is way north for this species. Given the site, one has to wonder if this was planted. Several iNaturalist enteries have cited this plant but the only other Mt. Diablo record is a general "check list" one. I'd love to see a second R. speciosum on the mountain.

Brodiaea elegans (harvest brodiaea).

Triteleia laxa (Ithuriel's spear). Generally just a little higher up than their cousins, the Brodiaeas.

Clarkia purpurea. It's the season for Clarkias. The sepals were free on this one.

Clarkia unguiculata (woodland clarkia). Name notwithstanding, but I saw these mostly on partially open west-facing slopes. A perfect individual flower is amazing -- and over the years I've shot many -- but this sort of gangling jumble is more common.

Clarkia concinna (red ribbons). North facing, shadier slopes.

Diplacus aurantiacus (sticky monkeyflower). Perhaps the most common thing out today.

Calochortus venustus (butterfly mariposa). Lots out today.

Dudleya cymosa (liveforever).

Collinsia tinctoria (tincture plant). Same as I saw last year: at the north end of the waterfall trail (just beyond the Cardinet Oaks Road junction).

Monardella villosa (coyote mint).

There was still water in Falls Creek.

Papaver heterophyllum (wind poppy). Just a few ragged specimens left. I think I saw two all day.

Calochortus pulchellus (Mt. diablo fairy lantern). C. pulchellus tends to peak earlier, but many of these still around on the shady hillsides near the top of the Falls Trail.

Allium unifolium (one leaf onion), near where the Falls Trail loops around and start following the top of Donner Creek.

This spot had the biggest PO leaves I've ever seen. Each leaflet is about 6" long. From petiole to tip,this guy was 15-18".
