On the Mahogany Trail, between the new bridge and the turnoff to the Trapline Trail. This trail was sometime muddy slog (and it got worse up on the ridge), but I found what I came out for today ...

Aristolochia californica (California pipevine) coming into bloom. This one's not quite open yet.

Aristolochia californica (California pipevine). These flowers -- odd little things -- are fully open. A few early leaves are showing too. There are many plants in this area but only a few were in bloom.

Toxicoscordion fremontii (star zygadene), a little higher up on the Mahogany Trail.

Back to the top of the Mahogany Trail where it rejoins the Chamise Trail.

Pedicularis densiflora (Indian warrior) in the shady forested sections of Las Trampas Ridge. It's been a good late winter for these.
