Sinkyone State Park - May 2015
May 7-11, 2015. Far Northern California. A five day / four night in-and-out backpack on the Lost Coast, the section of the California coast too rough to have been touched much by roads. The area is now protected as the Kings Range National Conservation Area in the north and Sinkyone State Part in the south with the area around Shelter Cove providing access in he middle. My trailhead was Needle Rock at the north end of Sinkyone State Park. I spent nights at Bear Harbor, Wheeler, Little Jackass Creek, and back at Bear Harbor. While this is now wilderness, it was once lightly settled farming, ranching, and logging country. The remains of habitation were visible.
