Back via the JMT
August 17-20, 2015. Sierra North. Part 3 of the eight-day backpacking excursion out of Red's Meadow. On the 17th the story picks up on the John Muir Trail (JMT) below Squaw Lake and ends at the day's destination, Virginia Lake. On the 18th, the route is Virginia Lake to the northeast corner of Duck Lake via the JMT, the Duck Pass Trail, and the Pika Lake Trail. On the 19th, down to the Red Cones and camp at Crater Meadow. Then on the 20th, after a very photogenic morning, I made my short exit back to Red's Meadow. Click here for Part 1 and Part 2.
